Bárbara Pintar, uma estudante de mestrado em Design de Comunicação para o Turismo e Cultura da Universidade do Algarve, esteve no RIAS a testar o seu trabalho de fim de curso. Aqui fica o seu testemunho.
Bárbara Pintar, a master student in Communication Design for Tourims and Culture, was in RIAS testing her final work. Here is her testimonial:
“During four days in August (23-26), I was visiting RIAS (rehabilitation center for wild animals in Olhão), where I was doing the beta testing of Birdadvisor 360˚ application, my final project at Master of Communication Design for Tourism and Culture. It is being developed under the supervision of Professor Joana Lessa at University of Algarve.
The Birdadvisor 360˚ is a smart phone application for birdwatching tourism in the Algarve, which can be used as a personal guide for this activity, as well as an educational tool. Among the complete list of bird species you can observe in the region, the application would suggest the best bird-observatory spots in the Algarve and facilitate the user to discover many different parts of the region. In the 360˚ Photo Sphere view of suggested locations the application would provide a description of specific vegetation and a bird list which would help anyone to identify the species and understand the environment they live in. Users could also create their own tracks along with a list of spotted birds and valuable notes done during the activity, which can be saved and shared among other users.
This project is being developed in the area of Communication Design and Interaction Design, which aims to provide clear, simple and effective design for smart phone applications, based on Android and IOS systems. It would provide useful bird information, navigation through the region’s best birding spots and create new experience for users.
Birdadvisor 360˚ would be an important tool for promoting Nature tourism in Algarve during all year. Users can always discover new locations through birdwatching activity and share their observations through the application.
I would like to thank to Sofia, Fábia, Thijs and everyone in RIAS for their help and participation in the app testing. For me it was a really nice experience to see their everyday work and I am very pleased to participate in liberations of birds.
Thank you!
Barbara Pintar”
